Summer is officially here and since we're homebound for most of it this year, I thought it was the perfect time to reminisce on some of our favorite travel spots from last summer.
Traveling with Graham as a one year old wasn't easy, but I'm so thankful that we didn't let that stop us from making these special memories with him as our only child. We took several flights and not all of them were "peachy" but we made it to our destinations and had a blast exploring with him in his new surroundings.
These high temps the past couple days are reminding me how lucky we were to spend our early summer days in the cool mountain air.
Our first stop was Virginia for Memorial Day. My Dad and I were meeting my brother and niece for a week of relaxation in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Graham had the best time rafting with Uncle RJ, exploring with Campbell in the woods, and staying up late watching movies and eating ice cream (ok, just Campbell got to do that. Graham stuck to his usual schedule so Mommy could get some down time).
The trip was such a success that we went back with Brian, Aunt Kimberly, and Uncle Case for the 4th of July. Sadly, Graham had some teething issues during this travel experience so it wasn't our best flight, but once we got there it wasn't so bad.
Our next stop was Lake Tahoe. Brian had a work trip that he let us tag along on and I sure am thankful because the views were absolutely stunning!
And we also enjoyed a little local travel to the lake on the weekends.
I'm looking forward to all the new adventures we'll encounter this summer! Rest assured, there aren't any flights on our travel agenda this year, but I am hoping for some family road trips.

The pool had a sandbox nearby that Graham just couldn't get enough of. There was one night Brian went to a work happy hour on the patio while Graham and I were hanging out by the pool and if you know my little Graham, he's got quite the set of lungs to let you know he's excited about something! There were several loud, "Yeaahhhs!!" that I couldn't help but giggle about just thinking of Brian hearing them from his work function.
Sand is a huge hit for this guy so I'm sure we have some Galveston weekends in our future this summer.
I've been racking my brain trying to figure out when Graham's
train obsession first started, and here it is. Love at First Sight! I forgot we stopped in some toy store after lunch and he hasn't stopped thinking about Thomas and all his friends since that day.
And we also enjoyed a little local travel to the lake on the weekends.
