Viva Las Vegas

Last weekend Brian and I joined Kimberly and Case for a quick weekend in Vegas!  I have such a love/hate relationship with Vegas…who doesn't? I love that you don't need more than 2 days in that city, but I hate that you need twice as long to recover. I love packing for the trip, but I hate the huge pile of laundry that smells like smoke when you return. I love playing blackjack, but I hate losing more than I started with….and the list goes on.

This trip was definitely different than any other time I've visited Vegas. We didn't step foot in a nightclub (hallelujah!), but don't get me wrong it was still action packed….

Arriving at the Wynn after a long afternoon of flying.

Carousel made out of all flowers.

Friday night, our plane landed, we checked in, got changed and ate at SW Steakhouse at the Wynn and it was excellent! My steak was perfect and the sides were delish! After dinner we went to see "O" at the Bellagio. This was my first "Cirque du Soleil" experience and wow! I'm not really sure how to describe it. There was so much going on all at once on the stage. I was thoroughly entertained the entire time, but I was trying to figure out a storyline the whole time and when it ended I wasn't sure if there ever was one? By the time the show was over, it was 2:30am our time and definitely time for bed!

Here's a few pics I googled on the internet that explain my confusion...
The only word to describe this guy who kind of "narrated" the show is....SCARY!

The diving from the top was the best part!

I'm not really sure where the clowns fit into the whole picture, but I liked them!

The next morning the boys were quick to hit the casino while Kimberly and I took our time before we settled into some BlackJack. We had some success but I was really playing to get a mimosa. (much different than the apple martini's I used to order in '04). Later in the day we switched to ordering Bailey's and cream and it was delicious too! I definitely consumed more sugar than alcohol on this trip considering my drink preferences were mimosas, Bailey's and cream, and Malibu on ice.

For lunch we ate at Burger Bar in Mandalay Bay because according to my foodie husband, their burger is all the rave! I'd have to agree it was definitely a burger I'd do again! They also had a bunch of different sauces and being quite the "dipper" that I am they all hit the spot. My top two faves were the honey mustard cinnamon and the truffle mayonnaise, yum! After lunch the boys went back to the hotel while Kimberly and I spent the afternoon "Renting the Runway." I've rented online once before when I was pregnant, but sadly didn't order the right size (they even let you rent two sizes) and had so settle for something I already owned so that didn't really count. I had been checking online for several weeks before this trip to rent something, but the price of shipping, insurance, etc. was holding me back so when I checked their webpage one last time the week of the trip, a pop up about their Las Vegas location showed up and I couldn't wait to check it out! The Vegas location was full of sparkle and sequins! We had fun trying on a bunch of selections, but didn't walk away loving anything to rent. It was just fun to act like a Disney princess and play dress up!

Saturday night after some sushi at the hotel with Case and Kimberly, we split our separate ways so they could go to George Strait while we went to BRITNEY!!! I was hesitant about purchasing tickets, but once I clicked submit on the StubHub website I was "all in" and ready to relive my favorite songs from the 2000's. Too bad I couldn't say the same for Brian. Brian's first "real" concert (other than the rodeo) was back in December seeing JT so I was pretty anxious for him to get to experience what a concert is in my mind….choreographed dancing. I read a bunch of reviews online about Britney before purchasing the tickets and it was exactly what I expected. People either loved it or hated it. There was a bunch of complaining about her lip syncing and people having to stand the whole time...both things I was completely prepared for. Overall the concert was amazing!! I'd definitely do it again, but probably not with Brian. I can't say her dancing was totally up to par, but to get to sing all my favorite songs and act 15 again is hard to complain about.

Dinner at Mizumi

Before Britney
Britney Spears concert at Planet Hollywood

I'm assuming this one is, "I'm like a ring leader, I call the shots..."

I wish I could remember which song this was?? I'm guessing Stronger.
The next day was Super Bowl Sunday. We gambled for most of the morning. I had terrible luck all day and probably switched tables every 5 minutes because I just couldn't get anything going. I switched from playing to watching pretty quick because in the back of my mind I would rather spend any "extra" money on decorating my house than on a deck of cards. Unfortunately the mimosas clogged that mindset for longer than they should have.

Brian placed a couple bets in favor of the Broncos so there's really not much to say about the Superbowl except Bruno Mars was great!

Loss, Loss, Loss, Loss, Loss, Loss....Better luck next year!
We had such a great weekend and I'm thankful Nonna, Papa, Mia, and Grandpa made sure that Graham had an equally entertaining weekend so that we could all enjoy some rest this week.
